Jesus Benavente
A satirical take on Houston's boom and bust cycles by San Antonio-born, Brooklyn-based artist Jesus Benavente. The installation creates an amusement park environment referencing Selena's legendary 1995 Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo performance, the Astrodome, and Texas history. Benavente uses humor to pressure the constraints of culture and convention as a Mexican-American from an impoverished community. Free admission.
